Will Clare visualised the concept of Net Zero, outlining the critical path to achieve a 90% reduction in carbon emissions and for the complete removal of the remaining 10%, utilising land and soils as carbon sinks.
The journey of achieving Net Zero, in the context of the food sector, spanning from farm to fork was outlined calling on companies setting and implementing rapid emission reduction plans.
Louis provided an insightful overview of the innovation concept (conceive – develop – deliver – scale) and explained that thinking outside the box begins by embracing risk, collaboration, investment, and continuous learning.
The discussion provided examples of agile and disruptive startups which will perform better from an innovation standpoint than big food companies that are distracted, slower, and risk averse. As issues increase, investors will have to pay more attention, and talent/innovation will come flooding in.
