Meet the coaches: Alexis de Liedekerke

Food can be produced in a way that works with nature, keeping water flowing, soils healthy, stores carbon and supporting biodiversity. Natural Capital generates critical ecosystem services that enable food production and make farming systems more resilient to climate shocks and stresses. But right now, with half of all habitable land used for agriculture and livestock, the agri-food system is a major threat to biodiversity and natural capital.

Nature gives us the resources to nourish ourselves, yet food production has become one of its greatest threat.

Alexis de Liedekerke, our Natural Capital and Biodiversity coach helps food organisations move beyond understanding climate and nature action as “charity”, and provides the know-how and tools needed to incorporate climate and biodiversity risk into business strategy. Alexis has a scientific background with a BSc in Bioengineering and a MSc in Organic Agriculture as well as in Agroecology. He has established and operated several micro-ventures in the farming industry, and has experience working as a consultant on Nature Conservation and Landscape Restoration. His current focus is on integrating nature related issues into business, to support clients to reduce impacts and manage dependencies on natural capital
