Guy is Technical, Agriculture and Sustainability Director at Co-op Food, having joined in 2018.

Guy’s teams work to ensure that, “firstly, our Co-op has amazing tasting, great quality, safe food to delight our customers; secondly we look to create value alongside our suppliers by removing complexity; and thirdly via our broad sustainability agenda, co-operate and campaign to protect the future of our food systems, protect our extended producer communities and protect the future of the planet”

Guy has a strong understanding of the supply base and the end to end value chain. Prior to the Co-op, Guy worked for two decades with United Biscuits, Samworth Brothers and Greencore in senior general management, operational, commercial and procurement roles.

Why do you support the Future Food Movement mission to radically upskill the food industry and leadership teams of today and tomorrow?

Sustainability can be a complex topic and in order to deliver the change we all need, it must be embedded into broader business activity. As such, an understanding of the issues and potential actions and solutions right across the business is critical.

What do you think it will take to shift the industry on sustainable diets?

The link between what we eat and sustainability, particularly climate change, is now well understood. It is clear that a citizen shift to a healthier and more sustainable diet is fundamental to a more resilient food system and a healthy and sustainable planet. Ultimately this is about consumer behaviour and choice.
