Michelle Rowley is Founder and Director of The Food Shift consultancy that specialises in helping food brands and teams to create impact, grow and innovate with confidence. Michelle works with food businesses looking to grow or make a change in the way they work. Her expertise lies in creating food and channel strategies, defining difference & positioning, advancing customer & supplier relationships, and shaping innovation pipelines. She also works to build and mentor product development and innovation teams to build credibility and profile, supporting them to grow trusted, collaborative & impactful relationships internally and with customers and suppliers.
Prior to starting The Food Shift Michelle has held senior positions across some of the UKs largest retailers and suppliers including Kantar, Tesco, Greencore, Iceland and Co-op. Her last role at Co-op as Head of Delicious Food saw her leading expert teams across product development, innovation, quality, process and health & nutrition. She was responsible for the development of all Co-op own label products delivered by over 300 suppliers. Before working in product development Michelle's background was in marketing, insight and brand management.
Throughout her time in food development Michelle has led the charge on creating healthier and more sustainable products through reformulation, new product development and innovation. She believes that retailers, manufacturers and suppliers hold the key to driving positive change in the way consumers eat. They have a responsibility to work together to drive positive improvements in their food ranges and give customers the choice and information they need to eat in a more climate positive way.
Michelle is passionate about inspiring and helping development, innovation and commercial teams to find a way through all the challenges and competing agendas they face in the food industry so they can find their own path to unlocking the impactful change we all need.
