Claire joined Sainsbury’s in Feb 2018 to lead the packaging and product innovation teams. During this time, she has evolved all Sainsbury’s sub-brands, developed a strategy for packaging reduction to support Net Zero, and driven customer led innovation in key product areas such as Taste the Difference and healthy and sustainable diets. She has worked in retail most of her career starting out in Safeway and spent 13 years at M&S. Whilst at M&S, she held several roles from heading up the science and innovation strategy, leading a change programme in the Central Food Technology Team on managing governance and creating and implementing a product health strategy across the business including the launch of Eat Well. She has also spent time working in marketing and PR and started out her career as a nutritionist in customer behavioural research. She has a real passion for driving health across products and making it accessible and affordable. She has also served as Chair of INCPEN for 5yrs, a member of the British Nutrition Foundation Advisory Board and a retail advisor for the North London Hospice.
