I have been working in the food industry for over 15 years in category roles across small and large businesses. Covering ambient, chilled and frozen categories across multiple retailers brands and own label. My educational background is science based with a Bsc in Geography, much of which covered climate change, meaning I am well versed in the science, impacts and the need for change. Sustainability has come to the forefront in the food industry recently and I can see that new skills and thinking need to be embedded within teams that can shape the future and drive the change. I believe Category Managers are uniquely placed to drive change due to their level of influence, skill set and their role in shaping food categories.
